To be perfectly honest, I could take or leave Fujiya and Miyagi right now. I thought their new album was fine (although that “vanilla, strawberry, knickerbocker glory” line always gets stuck in my head). I’m sure they’ll put on a good live performance, but this is a can’t-miss show because of School of Seven Bells. Their music consists of dreamy, ethereal soundscapes that make for incredibly interesting tunes. I was even more intrigued by this band when I read in an interview that they find the lyrics to be the most important part of their songs – the music just ornaments the lyrics. That’s a rare idea, and one that intrigues me. The show starts at 10. Check them out while you can. I’ve included a free mp3 below.
