As per usual, there are a lot of shows going down tomorrow. If I had the pick of the litter, though, I’d choose to see Tim Fite, Benjy Feree, and DeLeon at The Bell House. Tim Fite is a very interesting character. You may remember him from a music video that got frequent play on MTV back in the day, “Shaniqua Don’t Live Here Anymore.” I sure don’t remember that, but considering the kind of music he’s making now, it’s pretty bizarre. Fite is difficult to describe. He’s part singer-songwriter, part-weirdo, part-ex-hip-hopper. In some ways, he reminds me of Danielson, though I’m not sure why. I’ve included my favorite song of his for download below.
Benjy Ferree is another solo act with influences all over the place- soul, R&B, rockabilly. His new album, Come Back to the Five and Dime Bobby Dee Bobby Dee has been garnering some very positive press recently. Definitely worth checking him out live. If anyone goes, let me know what he’s like. I don’t know anything about DeLeon, but they seem promising based on the tracks they have posted on their myspace.

I saw Benjy opening for the New Pornographers last year. He’s got a really good live show. I was very impressed, nearly booked him for Olde Club. I’m playing him on my radio show this week.
