If you weren’t fortunate enough to shell out the big bucks for the Final Fantasy/Grizzly Bear show at BAM, there are a plethora of other, smaller, excellent shows happening tomorrow night. I’d be remiss not to mention that Marissa Nadler is playing the very last show at Sound Fix records’ space for free at 8PM.
But, the band I’m most interested in checking out tomorrow night is Motel Motel. They’re a Brooklyn-based indie rock band that reminds me of the likes of The Walkmen or White Rabbits- they play fairly standard indie fare. However, their track “Coffee” has been kicking around the internet for a few weeks now, and it’s a whopper. With sweeping swells and a hook back into the chorus you just want to hear over and over again, the song shows that this band has HUGE potential. Plus, I love the lyric “I don’t need help/ I can feel helpless on my own.” I’d definitely check them out at the Bell House opening for Phosphorescent so you can say you’ve seen them when. This is the type of band that definitely has the potential for huge popularity. Listen to “Coffee” below.
