I’ve been meaning to do a post on City Center for awhile now, so I was thrilled when I saw that they’re playing at 92YTribeca tomorrow night. City Center is the project of Fred Thomas, also of Saturday Looks Good To Me. I absolutely love SLGTM, a band marked by excellent songwriting and led by Thomas’ warbling vocals, so I’m ready to champion pretty much anything else he works on. I once had the distinct pleasure of eating brunch with him, and can officially vouch for the fact that he’s also a nice guy. I don’t know that I totally love this first new song from them, but it’s enough to make me eagerly await the arrival of City Center’s first LP, which should be arriving sometime in the next few months. If you can’t wait that long, Friday’s show is the perfect opportunity to get a first look at City Center.

i was wondering if maybe the band title was a hold steady reference. considering the kind of music it is, i’m guessing no.
