I would usually shy away from doing a post about a band like this. They’re a Baltimore electro outfit, and I tend to be wary of music that relies mostly on button-pushing. But Ear Pwr‘s brand new album, Super Animal Brothers III (out on Carpark Tuesday) proves my prejudices wrong and shows that when something’s good, it’s good. The album is an enthusiastic, colorful mish-mosh of songs, much like the press photo above. The pair were dating during college in North Carolina, and started to make music together. What I like best about Super Animal Brother is its good sense of humor. They don’t take themselves too seriously, singing songs about subjects ranging from their favorite sparkly sweaters to what kind of animal they’d be. The humor in their songs give them a lot of soul. This is the sort of album that I would put on if I were having a dance party, but the soul also just makes it fun to listen to sitting around (like I’m doing right now). They’re playing in New York on May 19th, May 24th, and June 2nd. Try to catch one of their shows- I’m sure they will all be seriously awesome dance parties.

After hearing the track here, I picked it up off Amazon along with their cover of Charlie’s Spacerwoman. Great stuff! Your blog is well above-average, great music taste.
