Woods and White Denim are two bands that I really dig, so I figured posting their two new music videos would be a great way to get to talk about them on my blog.  The Woods video for “To Clean” is above.  I recently saw them open for The Vaselines at Bowery Ballroom, and as you may recall, I wasn’t entirely overwhelmed by their performance.  In the past week or so, though, I’ve been listening to their debut album non-stop.  Its laid-back, vintage sounding tone is perfect for the early summer.  The video is pretty cool, too.  It’s everything I like about the band that their show at Bowery couldn’t capture.  It’s clearly shot at Silent Barn, a small and homey DIY venue that just suits the nature of this band.  You can have the mp3 for keeps below.

The above video for White Denim’s “I Start To Run” has been all over the blogosphere the past few days, thanks to Gorilla vs. Bear.  I saw this Austin band on the first night of SXSW and was incredibly impressed by their frenetic, constantly squiggling guitar solos and unbelievable late 60s energy.  This is a pretty good song by the band.  I particularly think that the vocals are compelling, though I don’t know that it captures their live sound as well as a few other singles I’ve heard.  I like to think of them as a sort of gritty up-and-coming Austin band, but this video is pretty slick and they’re releasing their new record in Europe, which all seems sort of strange to me.  Hopefully, though, they can keep the essence of what’s cool about them as their new album, Fits, inevitably propels them further into the limelight: that they’re a darn good, hard rocking local Austin band.
