MP3 Roundup: Generationals, Box Elders, Throw Me The Statue, and Fruit Bats
These late August warm and humid days have seen me neglecting this blog, but I’ve been listening to a lot of great music. Now that the weather’s broken, I’d better get down to it. Here’s four of my favorite songs I’ve heard recently. And I know it’s a little late, but I’d just like to [...]

Recommended Saturday Show: Impose Magazine Party at BKLYN Yard
Impose Magazine is throwing a really, really great party Saturday night. Take a break from After the Jump Fest and check out some of my absolute favorite Brooklyn, New Jersey, and Baltimore bands. Air Waves, Screaming Females, Sharon Van Etten, Boogie Boarder, Future Islands…basically the entire lineup should be entirely entertaining.

Recommended Friday Show: After the Jump Fest at Littlefield
Wow, over a week off from blogging. I never meant for that to happen, but moving really takes over your life. I won’t be such a slacker again, scout’s honor. Luckily, there’s tons of good music happening in Brooklyn this weekend. First of all, After the Jump Fest is happening. If you don’t want to [...]
Be Back Tomorrow
Sorry I’ve been completely MIA. I just moved and haven’t had Internet (on my phone right now). I think I’m heading over to the Death By Audio show tonight, and tomorrow someone is coming to put in my Internet. I’ll be back as soon as they do.

Recommended Thursday Show: Dinosaur Feathers at Cameo
This is a good band. They are also nice guys. They recently released their new ep, Early Morning Risers. You can download it for free. Go to this show. It’s a release party for the ep. Now, back to packing up my kitchen. MP3: “Early Morning Risers” – Dinosaur Feathers

Recommended Monday Show: The Breeders at Bowery Ballroom
I am recommending this show solely so I can post my favorite Beatles cover of all time. You can download it from the link below. Plus, The Breeders are just so sweet. If you don’t know them, the band is another project of the Pixies’ Kim Deal. That wasn’t a very elegant sentence, but frankly, [...]
Recommended (Free!) Sunday Show: Dinosaur Jr and The Walkmen at Summerstage
Am I allowed to say a show is righteous? This show is totally righteous. Dino Jr for free? After they just released a totally rocking new album? Throw the now indie-standards The Walkmen into the mix? A totally righteous free show in Central Park. If you’ve got nothing to do on a lazy Sunday, definitely [...]
Photos: Yeasayer and Amazing Baby at Pier 54
Yeasayer is a good band. Watching them play on the huge stage at Pier 54 on the Hudson (not the East River, as I mistakenly posted yesterday), I wondered what it must have been like to see them in tiny Brooklyn venues just a few years ago. They have so much stage presence that they [...]
Recommended Friday Show: ??!!!!#@$$**????
It’s official. Every good show this week is happening on Friday. This is one of the first times where I am really, truly undecided on what to recommend. Luckily, my own band is playing so I won’t have to make any tough decisions myself, but I’ll try to give you as much information as possible [...]

Recommended (Free!) Thursday Show: Yeasayer at Pier 54
Though I wouldn’t blame you for going to see Blondie and Pat Benatar’s free show tomorrow (as one of my co-workers put it, Yeasayer will be alive in ten years…), I have to stick with my old-time favorites and recommend Yeasayer’s free show on the East river. Say what you will, but I love the [...]
