Pitchfork didn’t like their new album, Alice and Friends, but I sure did. Box Elders play a lot of jangly, lazy almost-punk, with catchy melodies and a feel that brings you right back to 60s garage bands. Definitely comparable to other bands today like Ty Segal, but with a touch more humor. For instance the song “Necro,” questions how you can love someone who’s gone? Kind of a clever innuendo, right? Maybe just gross? Anyways, I think this is a fun band, and it should be a fun show.
