You could definitely go see Ty Segall at the DBA Maze tonight, or you could go see My Teenage Stride at the excellent venue, Shea Stadium. Instead, I’m recommending this show. Ramona Falls is one third of Menomena, who pretty much everyone agreed was excellent circa two years ago. We haven’t heard much from them until now, and this solo project’s new album is apparently pretty good. I actually haven’t heard it yet, and don’t actually love the song that I’m posting too much, but I think other people will probably really like it. It’s moody and atmospheric, and kind of reminds me of Loney Dear for some reason, but with a tad more sophistication. Wildbirds & Peacedrums are from Sweden, and I guess are pretty much what you’d expect from a guy/girl Swedish duo. Their stuff is wildly varying. Sometimes it’s nice, sweet, and melodic, but take a listen to the track below. It’s all handclaps, weird vocals, and sparse drum lines. If anything, this show will be musically interesting, if not downright gorgeous.
