Of course as soon as I have to go out of town, the shows for the week get exciting. The line-up for this show reads like a who’s-who of the up-to-the-minute-super-cool-bands-of-Brooklyn. Plus, it’s in a church, which should be a wonderful juxtaposition of God, rock and roll, and good acoustics. Plus, the line-up really is incredible. I’m not even going to bother talking about Real Estate. The rest of these bands would be enough to make this a can’t-miss evening. The Beets, technically from Queens, play short, rag-tag songs that are quirky enough to charm the pants off of any listener. The Tony Castles, Beach Fossils, and Total Slacker (pictured above) also all play some form of punk-ish, lo-fi-ish, garage-ish rock n roll and come highly recommended. If you’re leaving your house this Friday evening, this really is where you should be.

Have the Beets ever played “Killer Tofu?” On the one hand, I’m sure they’re sick of people asking, but on the other hand, you can’t name yourself The Beets and not expect to get that question constantly.
fossil and total slacker kids put on a good show that night. there was a film crew that shot the whole show to, so it’ll probably be up somewhere soon!
