Recommended Saturday Show: Titus Andronicus, Babies, Parts & Labor, and Cloud Nothings at Bowery Ballroom

I want to say something.  This is horrible blogging, but I don’t care.  I’m even going to write it in all caps, that’s how excited I am.  THE MONITOR IS MY FAVORITE ALBUM SINCE SEPARATION SUNDAY.  I don’t really like to get so personal on this blog with the things I really, really love, but the The Monitor touches a chord with me.  Maybe it’s because I grew up in New Jersey, but I think it’s a genius album that will go down in the history of rock and roll, on par with the likes of New York Dolls and Modern Lovers.  As one friend said, it’s special.  I’m not in any position to be more critical about it than that right now, and frankly, I don’t want to be.  Forgive me for veering dangerously from blogger/critic into barfy fandom, but I can’t help it.  It’s one of those albums.  The first track is one of my favorite songs ever, and you can download it below.

Accordingly, this is my recommended show for Saturday.  Plus, I’m incredibly excited to see Cloud Nothings for the first time, and as always, to see Babies again.  If you can get tickets (it’s sold out) go.  Mosh!  Dance!  Be young and enjoy yourself.  TRAMPS LIKE US, BABY WE WERE BORN TO DIE!!!!!
