Recommended Monday Show: Let's Wrestle, Casiokids, The Wave Pictures, and Banjo or Freakout at Knitting Factory

I recently posted Let’s Wrestle’s latest single, “We Are the Men You’ll Grow To Love Soon.”  It’s an irresistible cocky rock number, and the band has definitely grown on me immensely in the past few weeks.  Definitely on my list of groups to check out for a second time at SXSW.  The band’s goofy video for the song is above.

I really like Banjo or Freakout.  I’ve been playing a few of their songs on my God Bless Weirdmerica show for some time, though I admit that I haven’t kept up with their new tunes.  Still, definitely another British band worth checking out in NYC as they make their way down to Austin.  Casiokids are a Norweigan electro-pop band.  I don’t care too much for the kind of music they play, but I’ve been hearing reports this week that their live show is killer and very dancey.  However, most of these reports came from Twitter, so take that for what it’s worth.  As for The Wave Pictures, I’d never listened to them before I wrote this post, but the  British band has been playing quite a lot in New York before their trip to SXSW.  I like a lot of the tunes on their MySpace.  Oh My Rockness says that they sound a little like Jens Lekman, but they remind me more of songwriters like Dent May or Creaky Boards, though perhaps not quite as precious.  The below song is a bit overbearing, but I hear a lot of lyrical promise in it.  If you feel like doing something Monday night, definitely take advantage of all these great British bands stopping over on their way to Austin.
