I couldn’t choose one show to recommend for Friday. You couldn’t possibly only go to one show tomorrow night. Northside has packed Williamsburg with an absurd amount of good bands this Friday, and I’m going to give you a run down of all the ones I think are worth dropping by. First and foremost, Famous Class records are hosting their own show at Death By Audio, with the abovementioned bands. Grooms, Darlings, and Sisters are three of my absolute favorites all in one place, so this show gets my first nod.
Happening a little further out, at Bar Matchless, is the most excellent blog Microphone Memory Emotion’s showcase. Bermuda Bonnie, Fluffy Lumbers, Coasting, and Family Portrait are all exciting up and coming bands, and you won’t go wrong watching any of them. Another blogger showcase (or ex blogger) is at Public Assembly. It’s Pop Tarts Suck Toasted’s farewell event, and you can catch an enormous number of good acts including Dom (whom I just saw at Knitting Factory, review coming tomorrow), Darlings, The Grates, Dinosaur Feathers, and The Sundelles. You may also want to stop at Glasslands for Tame Impala, who are touring with MGMT and are widely known to be pretty insanely good. Only problem is, Amazing Baby is playing right after them, so Glasslands will be a one stop shop kind of thing.
Shea Stadium is a bit out of the way, but they have old favorites So So Glos and The Beets. And finally, a show that would be absolutely number one top billing any other day of the year, Real Estate, Woods, and the Fresh & Onlys at Music Hall of Williamsburg. You really can’t beat that. So boys and girls, get out that schedule and start making some tough decisions. Any of these choices will lead to an excellent night of music.
