I’m a big Alex Bleeker and The Freaks fan. They played my number one favorite set of SXSW this past year. Of course their sound is more complicated than this, but their Band-era vibe makes me so, so happy. They obviously can’t sound quite like The Band, or have the same ethos- that moment in time was so very specific- but they’re not playing punk and they’re not playing indie rock and they live in that wonderful older-old space that I recently blogged about. It’s so late and I’m babbling, but I promise Monster Island basement will be a really, really good time.
