I’ve been pretty down on music this week. I’m getting so tired of all the “hazy” “swirling” supposed pop numbers that sound like they’re ripped from an 80s local cable commercial. You know what I’m talking about. Sure, some, a very small percent, are good, but most of it is crap! And it’s what all the cool kids are writing about! I feel like I’m going crazy, and I’m the only one who can’t hear why it’s any good. I’m so sick and tired of blogs churning out posts about mediocre crap that I feel like giving up altogether. What’s the point? Who’s making exciting music anymore?
Then, luckily, I remembered that this show is happening on Saturday. Andrew Cedermark totally rules. He plays damn fine songs, with lots and lots of feeling. Just listen to the track posted below. Emotion-evoking! That’s what I’m talking about! (NOTE: My blog won’t actually let me update the song, but you should google “Moon Deluxe” because it’s killer). Celebration is also a really neat band that I’ve blogged about in the past. They don’t play here too often, so see them on Saturday! And I think you’ll enjoy Woodsman’s experimental rock, especially when it gets guitar-focused. I can’t speak much for Up Died Sound, but their MySpace makes them sound pretty intense. No haziness at all.
