Recommended Wednesday Show: The Thermals, Cymbals Eat Guitars, and So Cow at Irving Plaza

So Cow

Now that Irving Plaza is called Irving Plaza again, I feel that it’s ok to recommend shows there.  It was, after all, the first venue I ever went to in NYC.  While it does seem slightly ridiculous to see all three of these bands in such a large venue (remember when The Thermals were opening up for Ted Leo in the Starlight Ballroom in Philly?  Oh, you didn’t go to college in Philadelphia circa 2006?  Nevermind), all three of them are class acts, and it might end up being a really exciting show because of that.  It should be fun to watch So Cow on a large stage, Cymbals Eat Guitars will definitely fill the space with their bro-guitar, and The Thermals are always efficiently fun rockers.  If I could describe The Thermals in one word, it might be reliable.  Despite the hefty price tag ($18), I pronounce this show pretty sweet.
